Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. People who don't understand they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel grew to be a young woman living in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She had a dream to become a dancer, but a growth spurt resulted in her outgrowing her dance partner. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. Once I outgrew male partners at that point, I gave up. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school encouraged her into the right direction. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the annual school production. She tried out and was eventually cast as the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts at York University. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions, both on big screens and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 which was viewed only on occasion.
